Teatime Tech Newsletter for 2/2/26: Helping Copilot AI Work Better for You

Hi LHS-ers,Over the last few months, we’ve talked about Brisk AI, some of its features and how it can help you by saving time. This week, I want to slow things down and focus making the AI tools we have work better for you, specifically Microsoft Copilot.LHS Banner Winter.png
One idea that matters here is grounding.Grounding is how you teach AI how you think. The more context it has about your preferences, habits, and priorities, the less generic its responses become—and the less you have to re-explain yourself each time.
GROUNDING COPILOTWith Copilot, grounding mostly happens through memory. You can explicitly tell Copilot what you want it to remember by saying things like:“Save this to my memory.”“Remember that I teach 9th grade biology.”“Remember that I prefer bullet points and concise explanations.”WHAT AI KNOWS ABOUT YOUTo Check on what Copilot already thinks it knows about you:Open Microsoft CopilotClick the three dots / settings menuClick on Personalization, then Copilot MemoryReview what Copilot has saved about youRemove or adjust anything that doesn’t feel accurate or useful
PROMPT OF THE WEEK:To ground Copilot, copy and paste this prompt:“Ask me up to 10 thoughtful questions, one at a time.Focus on understanding my goals, teaching philosophy, what success looks like, and how I typically approach or solve problems.Adapt each question based on my previous answers.Once you have enough context, summarize what you’ve learned about me and save it to memory.”image.png
If you want help checking Copilot’s memory, setting it up more intentionally, or experimenting with prompts like this, stop by the Makerspace during Treat Tuesday. Happy to walk through it with you.
